Welcome to Sitter’s Ultimate Guide to Being a Babysitter!

Hi  everyone! My name is Emily, I spend a lot of time answering your questions, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I am a senior linguistics major at CU-Boulder. ‘Sko Buffs! I’ve got a big ol’ dog named Mack, and I babysit. A lot.

You might be wondering what it is that makes me qualified to write this guide, or even to answer your in-app questions—no worries, let me explain. I’ve been babysitting for about ten years now, 12 if you include the “mother’s helper” jobs I did when I was younger. To put it lightly, in those ten years, I’ve seen a lot. I’ve healed many boo-boos, changed too many diapers to count, and wiped away a whole of tears. I’ve been someone to play with and I’ve had to be the disciplinarian. I have had so much fun in the past few years, and there’s not much I love more than sharing my experience and offering advice. On top of years of experience, I’ve undergone multiple babysitter’s training, first aid, and CPR classes over the years—but we’ll talk about that later.

I’m so excited to work with all of you on this guide—but there’s one more person I need to mention! Ari, our resident youtuber and babysitting expert will also be helping us along the way via our youtube channel! We will be posting a new video every Tuesday with the hashtag #sittertiptuesday.  Periodically, you’ll find link to Ari’s videos through the guide. BUT, here’s the best part, you can check her videos out right here and get up to speed.

Both Ari and myself are open to your ideas, questions, and stories. You can tweet us at @SitterMe and follow us on Facebook and share your thoughts with us! Use the #sittertiptuesday to  ensure that we see it!
